Indians GGB Part 2

By Claire K

The Sleepy Eye Indians girls basketball team had a tough loss to St. Mary’s last Thursday night. The girls came out dead flat and looked like a completely different basketball team. Going into the game, the girls knew it was going to be a battle because St. Mary’s is a very aggressive, on-the-floor type of team. The last time the Indians played St. Mary’s, the Indians won by 17, and the reason they won was because the Indians were on the floor and out hustling St. Mary’s. St. Mary’s ended up winning the game by one point with a final score of 51 to 50. The Indians just got away from playing their game and just had an overall bad night.

The Indians hit the road the night after to MVL. The girls were a little down from the night before and were just hoping to come out strong and play their game. They came out right away with a lead of 8-0. They played an awesome team game that night. They all shot well and played great team defense. This was Sleepy Eye’s first time beating MVL in a conference game in the last 15 years. The girls were up going into half time. They came out in the second half with no sign of letting up. The girls ended up winning the game game 61 to 51. It was a great feeling for the Indians to go into the weekend with an awesome team win and not let the loss to St. Mary’s get them down. The Indians have six regular season games left before the start of playoffs.
