Ever since the Indians lost against the Cathedral Greyhounds, the Sleepy Eye Indians football team managed to string together a couple of wins in the past few weeks. The Indians fought for their first win that next week when they squared off in their homecoming game against the Wabasso Rabbits. It was an exciting, and high scoring game, but the Indians fought until the end and earned their first win of the year with the score of 54-40.
That next week, the Indians traveled to Sherburn to face off against a tough Martin County West football team. The game did not start off very well for the Indians as they gave up early points to the Mavericks. The Indians tried to get some momentum going as they scored 14 points in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late, as the Indians went on to lose this matchup, 47-14.
This past week, the Indians went over to Lamberton to play against a struggling Red Rock Central team. It was a cold day, but it did not seem to affect the Indians as they got things started right away. The Indians got momentum of the game as they had a 22-0 lead through halftime. That was all she wrote as the Indians defensed managed to scrape up a shutout victory of 22-0.
This Friday night, the BLH Mustangs come to town for a matchup against our very own Indians. Hopefully, the Indians get momentum right away and earn another win tonight.
