The Minnesota Vikings lost their home opener at TCF Bank Stadium to the New England Patriots 30 - 7. The Vikings started the game off on a high note, scoring a touchdown on a 25 yard catch and run by Matt Asiata. After that, the New England Patriots scored 30 unanswered points and shut out the Vikings for the rest of the game. Matt Cassel had his worst game as a Viking, throwing 4 interceptions. Matt Asiata got the start at running back, because Adrian Peterson was inactive. Asiata had 36 yards on 13 carries and 5 catches for 48 yards and a touchdown. Cordarrelle Patterson and Kyle Rudolph combined for 9 catches and 109 yards. On the other side, Tom Brady completed 15/22 passes and threw 1 touchdown. Patriots running back Stevan Ridley rushed 25 times for 101 yards and 1 touchdown. Patriots receivers Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski combined for 10 catches, 133 yards, and 1 touchdown. The Vikings aspire to get back on track next week in New Orleans when they play the Saints.
