Ice fishing in Minnesota is a big deal. Ice fishing usually starts around December 20th. This year the ice froze very early. I went on Lake Sleepy Eye Saturday, November 29 when the ice was already 6 inches thick. Sleepy Eye Lake is mostly a sunfish lake. I went with a friend and just had a good time catching fish .We caught about two dozen fish between the two of us. Out of the two dozen fish three of the fish were 10 in crappies. Ice fishing goes until around March 1st. This winter during Christmas break I will be going up to Park Rapids to spear northern pike, hope it will be fun. Ice fishing to me is better than summer fishing even though it takes more work.
