Extra Curricular Sports Benefit Children in Many Ways By: Madi

Being a part of an extracurricular sports team benefits kids in many ways. Being a part of a team has pushed students to excel in other settings, such as the classroom. According to an article by Tom Bliss, students have been given an extra push by the required GPA to stay eligible to play the sport they love.
Sports has also lowered the risk of childhood obesity. Studies have shown that if all adolescents would participate on one or more sports teams, the obesity rate would decrease by 26%.

Valuable life lessons are also learned while being a part of a team. Children have to learn to deal with winning as well as losing and to be sociable around different people. Sometimes they have to deal with people who they might not like, and they learn to work with others to achieve one same goal.
