Wisteria Flower Tunnel By: Anna L

The Wisteria Flower Tunnel is in Kitakyushu, Japan. In Kawachi Fuji Gardens, the garden hosts around 150 wisteria flowering plants of 20 different species. The gardens are about a four hour drive away from Tokyo. The best time to visit the gardens is late April and mid May because the wisteria are fully bloomed at this time. There is an annual ‘Wisteria Festival,” also known as ‘Fuji Matsuri,” on April 27-29. Wisteria is a symbol for Buddhists. It represents prayer and reaching out to the divine. The metaphors are mostly inspired by the spiraling shape in which the flowers grow and sometimes  reaching as high as 65.6 ft above ground.
