Stephan Badenhorst, who is originally from South Africa, lived in a straw hut with no heat or sanitary water. He moved to Sleepy Eye, Minnesota last year; He played football and baseball his junior year. He continued his football career to his senior year, but he was injured in the middle of the season. He then found his true calling… TENNIS! He decided to go out for the New Ulm High School boys’ tennis team. He moved up quickly, becoming number 1 for NUHS singles team. He currently has 5 wins and only 1 loss. He says his strength is his serve, but ironically, his weakness is his second serve. He has been playing tennis for 11 years, but missed a year due to him moving to Sleepy Eye. He is recovering and getting back into shape for his first and final season. He loves tennis and loves the competitiveness of the sport. He hopes to keep doing well.
