It was a normal day… until the speakers crackled to life as Mr. Laffen announced that the building was going into lockdown. As soon as his announcement was over, there were groans of protest, along with one individual remarking, “Are you serious?”
Oh, I’m sorry if this lockdown drill was inconvenient for you. Maybe we can reschedule for another time. Oh wait! Lockdowns are not scheduled around your personal schedule, real or not. Honestly, the only reason I’m writing this is because I am so tired of people questioning lockdowns, not taking them serious, or making jokes about the situation at hand.
Thankfully, this lockdown was a drill. However, the next time a lockdown occurs, we will not know if the situation is real or not. These situations should be taken seriously to not only ensure an individual’s safety, but the safety of their peers as well.
