- Your phone is filled with crud.- It was pretty gross when you pop the cover of a Galaxy or iPhone. Some phone repair shops say they find a wide range of stuff inside. Things such as: metal shavings, leaves, dust, food cakes around the home buttons, and believe it or not, green slime.
- It’s dirtier than a subway toilet.- Not just by a little in fact, phones have 18 times more bacteria per square inch. A study by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine found that the surface of one in six handsets had fecal matter on it. This is so gross. Ew.
- Make-up doesn’t go hand in hand with your phone.- Girls, does your phone sound muffled? Blame your powder. All your makeup clogs the speakers, making your speaker eventually give out.
- Putting your phone in rice doesn’t actually work.- The idea that you can magically dry out your phone by burying it in a baggie of Uncle Ben’s Instant Rice is just a myth. The damage doesn’t happen because the water is jangling around inside the phone, it happens when water shorts out the internal circuits.
- There’s bugs living in your phone.- You know in hot dogs, there is a small but really gross number of bug parts in there? The same goes with your phone. They go in there because its warm. Bugs crawl in through the headphone jack or charging port. The good thing is they won’t do much harm.
Next time, you think about licking your screen to clean it, just remember these facts, and I’m pretty sure you won’t want to.
