- Ebola was first discovered in 1976 in Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Ebola got its name from the Ebola River in the village of the outbreak.
- Ebola is a serious disease and is often fatal, especially if untreated.
- The outbreak currently in Africa is the largest outbreak in history.
- Humans come in contact with Ebola from wild animals that have the disease.
- Ebola is spread to one another from direct contact with the blood, secretions, organs, or other bodily fluids of infected people, and with surfaces and materials that are contaminated with these fluids.
- Ebola is contagious only when the person shows symptoms.
- Symptoms include sudden fever, fatigue, muscle pain, headache, and sore throat. This is followed by vomiting, diarrhea, rash, symptoms of impaired kidney and liver function, and in some cases, both internal and external bleeding.
- They do not have a vaccine yet, but they are working on one.
- More people have been dumped by Taylor Swift than have been infected by Ebola in the U.S.
