Last night the River Valley Wildcats played in their first round of playoffs against the Fairmont Cardinals. Like last year, this is the team that we had to beat in order to advance to the “Bubble” where the section quarterfinals are held. We defeated them in a shutout 7-0 where last year it was a close one only defeating them 4-3. We have definitely improved as a team from last year and have had a pretty successful season thus far. We are currently seeded 3rd in our section behind St. James and Blue Earth Area who are both very competitive teams and have been to the state tournament before. This Thursday, October 8th, the River Valley Wildcats will be heading to play in the section quarterfinal team playoffs! Since we are seeded pretty well, we get a bi for the first round. Our first rotation we will play Blue Earth Area, the 2nd seed. Last time we played them we lost 3-4, so we hope to make a comeback in the section finals. If we win we will play one more round to see who advances to state as a team, and if we lose then we are done. Win or lose it has been a great season for the River Valley Wildcats. Thanks to those who have come out to some of our matches and supported! Also, good luck to all of the other fall sports as playoff season starts to kick in!
