The Stanley Cup Playoffs are right around the corner. In my opinion, this is the best time of the hockey season. Half of the teams have already made the playoffs and are looking to win the Stanley Cup. All of the teams from the Western Conference have clinched spots besides the two wild card teams. The playoff race is much closer in the Eastern Conference with only one team that has clinched a spot in the playoffs. The wild card teams are the last teams to clinch spots, since those teams could be pushed out of a playoff spot. In the Western Conference, the Minnesota Wild are in the last wildcard spot. Minnesota has a five point lead over Colorado, and both of the teams have five games left to play. In the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia Flyers are the second wild card team. With their win over the Washington Capitals last night, they pulled to a two point lead over the Detroit Redwings. The race to the playoffs is close throughout all of the competing teams.
