Now, we all enjoy the rich, creamy, deliciousness of the wonderful desert called ice cream. However, how many of you knew that ice cream was introduced to America in the 1700s and was a rare, exotic dessert enjoyed mostly by those of status and wealth? Ice cream was also served to immigrants at Ellis Island as part of their first meal in America. The fact that 90% of American families buy ice cream regularly shows that people easily fell in love with this tasty treat. We can thank King Tang (A.D. 618-97) of Shang, China for his wonderful invention of ice cream. Now, we can all enjoy this amazing and most delicious creation.
